Malaga Airport to Offer Direct Flights to 156 Destinations This Peak Holiday Season

Malaga Airport is set for a record-breaking peak season, with direct connections to 156 destinations worldwide and nearly 21 million seats available10% more than in 2024. Spain’s airport operator Aena has confirmed that 52 airlines will operate 114,000 flights, an 8.2% increase compared to last year.

The majority of flights will connect Malaga with European cities, with 210 routes, while 31 domestic routes will link the city to other Spanish airports. Long-haul connectivity is also expanding, with 11 routes to Africa, 5 to the Middle East, and 2 to North America, including United Airlines’ daily direct flight to New York from May 2 to September.

The UK remains the top market for Malaga, with 55 routes and 26,000 flights, while London leads with over 2 million seats across 10,800 operations. Ryanair continues to dominate passenger traffic, operating 91 routes, including five new destinations: Warsaw-Modlin (Poland), Brno (Czech Republic), Lübeck and Münster (Germany), and Teesside (UK). The airline is also increasing its fleet at Malaga Airport to 18 aircraft, creating 60 new jobs and offering 5.3 million seats.

According to Aena, Malaga Airport welcomed 1.37 million passengers in January 2025, a 2% increase from the previous year. With its expanding flight network, increasing airline capacity, and consistent passenger growth, Malaga is strengthening its position as a key European travel hub.
